Boofs Bushcare - 8 June 2013 - Saturday morning working bee. Boofs Bushcare is pushing deeper into the western side (Duncan St-facing) of our area, and the job is becoming easier as we encounter the Casuarina (recently renamed Allocasuarina) stands, with their carpet of dead needles and closed canopy, suppressing weed invasion. We are also pushing into the swamp edges and removing weeds and making new endemic plantings. < slideshow opposite - click the large image to Play/Pause A load of mulch was delivered by Council, and we started on spreading this, and will continue next month. Several new plantings were made on the areas weed -poisoned last month. A concerted attack was made on the blackberry, which was stem-scraped and poisoned, and left above the mulch to transport the poison to the roots. Some invasive garden-escape weeds were removed, most likely either dumped or bird-propagated. Some small Senna re-sprouts were also removed. Plantings were made of species endemic to the Boofs area: Euc. pilularis , Euc. robusta , Melaleuca linearifolia , Lomandra longifolia , Crinum asiaticum , Ficus coronata |

Boofs Bushcare - Huskisson Wetlands - Winimma Lane
Commenced March 2010. Roger Hart is the co-ordinator, and thanks go to Alasdair Stratton in Shoalhaven City Council, who has provided lots of advice and assistance.
