The Community Cycleway-Art-way Project organizing committee were hard at work on Saturday 26 March 2011 at the Huskisson Community Centre on NSW Election Day.
There was a fundraiser barbeque and cake stall, with several local businesses donating ingredients. Special thanks to the Huskisson Butchery for the sausages, and Huskisson Bakery for the bread and cakes.
Orders are now open for named pavers, contact the committee. Just $50 gets you your name on a paver in the pathway!

We have some fund raising functions coming up and your support directly or in-directly via friends ,acquaintances etc. will be a great help: -January 2012: Huge Lamington stall (& Paver Orders, hopefully) @ Marine Rescue Duck Derby, Moona Moona Creek on Australia Day 26th January. -February: ‘Mellow Music’ Evening at Main Deck, Owen St, Huskisson. -March (late): Film Night at Husky Pictures, Owen St, Huskisson. -April (Easter Saturday): Monster Garage Sale at #58 Duncan St, Huskisson Any ideas or suggestions as to other suitable fund raising activities most welcome, cheers Garry Kelson for ‘ the Woolly Way’ HWCV Community Pathway Project tel: 0458 002 874 (ps ! please feel free to share this note as you see fit-GK.)
Update 6 September 2011: Progress is being made! With the kind support and sponsorship of Helen and Scott Ball of Jervis Bay Caravan Park, the first 50m of pathway was built at Woollamia in July. Now the first 100m of pathway has been built at the Huskisson end, starting at the Woollamia Road intersection. Concretors Peter and Mick have been hard at work, and pavers have been included in the pavement. Additionally there are road base loads along the route in preparation for future expansion. The next stage is to return to Woollamia and further extend the path from there. Sign at Woollamia Rd intersection: we have recycled the former Linear Accelerator progress sign, and erected this on the service station corner, and will update it as the pathway proceeds. We have taken some photos of the current completion, and these are featured on these pages. |

Update 11 April 2012: ‘Woolly Way’ Monster Garage Sale a great success. The ‘Woolly Way’ Monster Garage Sale on Easter Saturday was a great success. With the support of numerous donors of items for sale and a lot of hard work by a dedicated few, some $1,500+ was raised for the Pathway Project. Special thanks to Blair and Anne Keane & family, Paul and Jan Sutton & family, and Nina Douglas and Geoff Barlow who devoted many hours to the setting up, manning and pull down-very much appreciated. We will now begin further Pathway construction from near Edendale Street Woollamia, South towards the Jervis Bay Caravan Park within the next couple of weeks ! Thank you again to everyone who supported a most successful fund raiser - Garry Kelson, Chairman of the HWCV ‘Woolly Way’ Pathway Project. |

Update 12 April 2012: ‘Woolly Way’ gets a big boost from state grant South Coast Register, link: http://www.southcoastregister.com.au/news/local/news/general/woolly-way-gets-a-big-boost-from-state-grant/2519973.aspx The Huskisson Woollamia Community Voice’s $60,000 grant will enable it to continue work on the community pathway between Huskisson and Woollamia. Known as the Woolly Way, the shared cycleway-“artway” will run from Woollamia Village to Huskisson but is only partly finished. The Woolly Way Pathway Committee chairman Garry Kelson said the 2.2km path was slowly being constructed 150 metres at a time. He said the committee spent the past 18 months applying for the funding. “This is a very significant grant for us and we are very grateful,” he said. He said the committee would still need to fundraise and sell pavers to complete the pathway but the grant would significantly further its progress. The funding was a part of the state government’s Community Building Partnerships program. The pathway was chosen as one of 20 projects on the South Coast. “There was strong competition for the available funds and a high level of interest from the community with almost 3000 applications received across the state in total,” said South Coast MP Shelley Hancock. For people interested in keeping up with the path’s progress, a sign has been installed just down from the Huskisson Police station to show how much of the path has been completed.
